The satin stitch is definitely the one used the most. It is worked by using: - a running stitch to trace the outline and then the internal part of the design; - a series of straight stitches sewn very closely together, (similar to the satin stitch), to neatly fill in the design.
The silk stitch represents the art of painting with a needle. This is because a long stitch gives an impression of three-dimensionality creating masterpieces through the nuances that reproduce how the play of light on these particulars, through graduations of color and by maintaining the perspective.
The stem stitch is ideal for depicting elements with a kind of delicate cord. The work is very soft to the touch and either a simple or a double stitch can be used. Pre-washed 100% linen. Made in Italy.
